The Minerva Film Festival and Awards is a celebration of films that touch the hearts and open the minds of global audiences. It is an opportunity to encourage the portrayal the critical role women have played in military affairs throughout history. It is also a chance for writers, actors and members of the motion picture industry to encourage young artists and filmmakers to produce work that address the role women have played in military affairs throughout the world.

Festival Portrait

Minerva welcomes submissions from students and independent filmmakers reflecting our theme. Selected entries will be showcased throughout the Festival. Audiences will determine the competition winners via confidential ballots provided at the screenings. Cash awards honoring filmmakers will be presented during the Festival’s closing ceremony. The Minerva Award will be presented to a motion picture industry dignitary and will also highlight this event.

In addition to the film screenings, Minerva’s three-day agenda includes informal morning coffees with special guests, seminars, panel discussions, interviews with film executives in production, distribution and exhibition, as well as celebrities plus time to discover and enjoy the natural beauty and tourism opportunities of the Nation’s Capital.
